Emmanuel Querre

Querre Vineyards

Starting their trading business in 1897, for four generations the family has cultivated and nurtured the production of exceptional products since 1909, when they acquired their first vineyard in Pomerol.

Under the leadership of Emmanuel, the Querre vineyards consist today of five properties totaling over fifty hectares. Each property is used to the max of its potential, everyone has its unique style and the deepest respect for the soil. Some vines there are more than 110 years old.

The wines produced are regularly rewarded at competitions in Paris, Bordeaux or Lyon.

"What motivates us is the passion for wine and sharing good-doing.
Our credo is to always do better, respecting each of our terroirs as well as what nature offers us ."
EMMANUEL QUERRE

Chateau Le Moulin

CHÂTEAU LE MOULIN

THE ORIGINS

Situated on the banks of the Barbanne, this property, better known as Moulin de Lavaud, once brought together two essential activities, the cultivation of vines and the making of bread.

The economic crisis of the interwar period led to the dismantling of the vineyard, and modernism finally brought the millstones of the old mill to a halt.

RECOVERY

In 1969, Michel Querre and his wife Geneviève bought the weathered old mill and set about renovating the imposing building that had been home to two mayors of Pomerol and the sculptor Amédée Constant.

After thirty years of work to restore the residence to its former charm, all that remained was to bring the vineyard back to life.

THE RENAISSANCE

In 1997, with the help and encouragement of his son Emmanuel, Michel Querre bought the vineyards of Vieux Château Cloquet: 2.5 hectares on the plateau of the same name, and the first vintage of Moulin Nouveau was born!

Chateau Patris

CHÂTEAU PATRIS

LOCATION

Château Patris is located on the southern slopes of the Saint-Emilion hills, in the extension of Château Angelus. As such, it benefits from natural shelter from the cold winds and exceptional sunshine, which favours the perfect ripening of the grapes.

It comprises almost 11.5 hectares of sandy soil and sandy-clay subsoil, planted mainly with Merlot (75%), followed by Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).

WORK IN THE VINEYARD

They have always applied the most stringent cultivation techniques and the most advanced winemaking methods, which have won them several awards in guides, fairs, and competitions.

In the vineyards, for example, they have opted for "lutte raisonnée" (integrated pest management) to avoid damaging the soil and the crop, green harvesting, and single Guyot pruning to limit yields.

THE CONSECRATION

Since 1967, the vintages have followed one another with consistent quality, recognised by the world's greatest wine critics, and rewarded many times over with medals and glowing reviews.

Chateau D'aiguilhe Querre

CHÂTEAU D’AIGUILHE QUERRE

LOCATION

Château d'Aiguilhe Querre has belonged to the Querre family since 2000. The 2.5-hectare vineyard is located at the entrance to the village of Saint-Philippe d'Aiguilhe, east of Saint-Emilion, at the highest point of the "Côtes de Castillon" appellation.

At an altitude of over 110m, the vineyard is situated on a limestone plateau, benefiting from natural drainage and exceptional sunshine.

TAKEOVER AND CONSECRATION

In 2000, Emmanuel and Gaetane Querre bought the 2.5-hectare plot as they understood the potential of the amazing quality of the soil and exceptional exposure.

Since then, the vintages have followed one another with consistent quality, recognised by the world's greatest wine critics and rewarded many times with medals and glowing reviews.

Nicole Tapon

Tapon

Certified organic in 2012, this family has been cultivating vines in this way since 1794.

The chief winemaker Nicole Tapon, takes inspiration from her grandfather who had great respect for terroir. Diverse in style and geography, Tapon follows a distinctly Burgundian structure to reflect the diversity of each terroir, featuring her own name first rather than the multiple châteaux and parcels that she works with.

Winning multiple awards, Nicole says women are more careful when working in the vineyards. She hopes her daughter will eventually take over this healthy and rich land for growing wine.

"Our estate, through the multiplicity of its terroirs, is the most Burgundian of the Bordeaux vineyards.
Wine has two parents: the vine and the terroir, an alliance of soil and climate.”
TAPON
